Rethinking rural revitalization through playful energy.

In Laoshicun, a village rich in salt field heritage and ecological significance, HappyPower designed and launched China’s first Sea Salt Playground — a modular, zero-waste energy play space rooted in local culture. By transforming traditional folk practices like dragon boat racing and tree climbing into interactive energy-generating installations, the project reimagines rural sustainability through joyful participation.

The playground not only powers lights and charging stations through physical play, but also strengthens community engagement, provides educational experiences, and creates new revenue models through cultural products and co-governance.

Laoshicun’s transformation has been recognized by national ecological funds and international forums, positioning this project as a replicable model for green rural development in culturally significant areas.
